Oct 15, 2023

Tis the season for carving!

But don't waste all your leftover pumpkin! They are packed with amazing nutrients for our fur friends. Instead, try these homemade pumpkin and PB dog treats.

Ingredients:

- 1 cup pureed pumpkin

- 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (make sure it doesn't contain xylitol, as it can be toxic to dogs)

- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

-handful for cranberries (optional)

Method:

1. Preheat your oven to 175°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine the pureed pumpkin, peanut butter & cranberries (optional) until well blended.

3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour and cinnamon to the mixture, stirring until you have a firm dough. If the dough is too dry, you can add a little water or more pumpkin puree.

4. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.

5. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough.

6. Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

7. Once baked, let the biscuits cool completely before giving them to your dog.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them fresh for longer.
