I have a very fussy little eater, a Maltese cross Shitzu. I mainly feed him raw food (human grade and add various powders) but was worried he was not getting all of the nutrition he needed. I moved from Darwin to Adelaide and have not found any really good dog health food stores here. We have an excellent one in Darwin called Aussie Pooch — I was able to buy some things there to add to his diet.

Then, Baxter had surgery on his left leg, and his eating became little to nothing.

It was very frustrating as he would not eat food and I could not find some of the products I could get in Darwin. He was not regular, and when he did go, they were not a good consistency or colour. Plus the flatulence… omg he was stinky.

I started researching and tried many different products. I eventually came across a review from Lyka — a lady who did like their product but found Doggy Grub more convenient in how you store the product, and the quality of the food was better. I thought I would give it a try. Plus it’s a local company and I like to support. But the best thing is, Baxter actually eats it.

I still mix some raw meats with it, and he definitely prefers the kangaroo over the chicken.

The convenience of not having to prepare, plus being able to store it in the cupboard until it is opened — that’s what makes a difference. Plus, you can see it's real food, vegetables and fruits. It’s quality.

This may sound gross, but he is now regular and his poos are looking so much better. Oh, and only the occasional smelly fluff when he eats something he shouldn’t. Woooo hooooo!

We still have the occasional bad day of not eating but I would say he now eats all his food 90% of the time. I also know he is getting the nutrition he needs and it’s all human grade. That’s what I want for my fur baby!

He is my therapy dog (not officially), but I got him after my sister and mum passed 7 years ago, and getting him was the best thing I ever did. I want him to be healthy.
