Halloween Dog Treats - Reese's peanut butter pups!

Oct 26, 2019

Last year, we gave you the recipe for some pretty spooky Halloween dog treats.

This year, we thought we’ll share something that both you and your dog can eat, something that often finds its way in the trick-or-treat buckets of our American friends: Reese’s peanut butter cups!!

As you may have already guessed by the title of this blog; we’ll be changing up the recipe to suit our four-legged friends!

This is a very quick & easy recipe that doesn’t even require an oven, so let’s jump right in!

Ingredients:

  • 150g carob chips
  • 6 tbsp canola oil
  • 150g smooth peanut butter (100% natural)

Method:

  1. Place carob chips in a microwave safe bowl, and pour canola oil over the top.
  2. Put in microwave and heat until carob chips have melted (typically 1 min). Mix the carob thoroughly to combine.
  3. Meanwhile line cupcake tin with 12 cupcake liners.
  4. Put a spoonful of melted carob into each lined tin and smooth it around the edges and bottom to create a “hollow cup”.
  5. Rest in the fridge for 2 hours or until carob has harden. Keep the remaining melted carob aside.
  6. Place a spoonful of peanut butter into each cupcake case, flattening it slightly.
  7. Pour the remaining carob (you might need to melt it again in the microwave) over the peanut butter, to cover. Your heart of peanut butter should now be encased.
  8. Place your tray back into the fridge to harden and keep there until your pup is ready to eat.
  9. The treats will last up to 4 days in the fridge and 4 months in the freezer.

Now you’re ready for all the trick-or-treating pups in your neighbourhood to come knocking at your door.
